Blocked Numbers Overview

The Blocked Numbers list is a critical compliance and campaign management tool that controls which recipients receive your bulk or group SMS messages.

The Blocked Numbers list applies only to group messages/campaigns. It does not prevent individual, one-on-one message exchanges.

This means you can still initiate a direct, non-campaign message to a blocked number, and the recipient can still reply to your one-on-one message.

Why Block Numbers?

  • Compliance: In many regions (e.g., Europe), telecommunications laws require you to provide a straightforward, easy way for recipients to opt out of marketing messages.
  • Opt-Out Handling: Numbers are automatically added to this list if a recipient replies to a group message with an opt-out keyword (like "STOP").
  • Contact Control: You can manually add numbers to the list if a recipient requests to be removed from your campaigns via an external channel, such as email, phone, or a customer service ticket.

Maintaining the blocked numbers list is essential for respecting recipient preferences and ensuring your bulk messaging campaigns remain fully compliant with local regulations.
