Edit Opt-out Texts

You can customize the opt-out message that is automatically added to your SMS campaigns in Account Settings. This allows you to use alternative wording or provide a different opt-out method, such as a website link.

Including a link can be useful if you manage customer lists in your own CRM or another external system and want recipients to opt out there instead.

Customize the Default Opt-out Message

To update the default opt-out text:

  1. Select Account Settings from the sidebar menu.
  2. Scroll down and locate the Opt-out Text section.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • Use standard text:

      "Opt-out? STOP to [phone number]"    

    • Use alternative standard text:

      "No more SMS? Send STOP to [phone number]"    

    • Use custom opt-out text
  4. If you select the custom option, enter your opt-out message in the field provided.

    If you define your own text, you must ensure that the number the recipient should reply to for opting out is included in your custom message, otherwise, it will not be added automatically. You don't have to include the opt-out number if you use your own opt-out mechanism, for example through a link.

  5. (Optional) Enable Opt-out override control in Account Settings to manually control whether the opt-out text is included in SMS messages. When enabled, this option appears on the New Message page under Settings. See Send an SMS to learn how opt-out text appears when creating a message.
  6. Click Save Settings at the top of the page.

You are now ready to refine your campaigns with custom opt-out texts.
